Library Furlough August 1 - 8 PDF Print E-mail
Newsflash
  • Wood County District Public Library is on furlough August 1 - 8--locations in Bowling Green and Walbridge are closed and the bookmobile will not go out. The furlough will save $17,000 , helping to close budget gaps created by state funding shortfalls.
  • No library materials will be due during this time.
  • Library patrons who use the library's online catalog to request books, etc., the week prior to and during the furlough period will be asked to select one of the other (independent) Wood County libraries as a pickup location for their materials. Doing this will help get requests to library patrons while WCDPL is closed.

WCDPL Furlough Week, August 1 - 8 PDF Print E-mail
Press Releases

For Immediate Release: Due to Ongoing Budget Crisis Wood County District Public Library Announces Furlough for August 1 - 8

When Wood County District Public Library took a furlough week in April of 2010, it was anticipated that if double digit shortfalls in funding from the State of Ohio continued, a second furlough would become necessary.

The Ohio Library Council recently announced that state funding to public libraries for June 2010 is down -13% from June of 2009, and that overall funding in 2010, when compared to the first six months of 2009, is down a total of -14.4%.

To help close the budget shortfalls created by the continued loss of these operating dollars, WCDPL, its Walbridge Branch, and the Bookmobile will close and all library employees will be furloughed, that is, on unpaid leave, August 1 – 8. No library materials will be due during this time.
