Wood County District Public Library's (251 North Main Street, Bowling Green) fiction book club, Coffee Talk, meets Wednesday, February 24 at 10:30 AM in the library meeting room.   Join us to discuss Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult.

When Charlotte and Sean O’Keefe’s daughter, Willow, is born with severe osteogenesis imperfecta, they are devastated – she will suffer hundreds of broken bones as she grows, a lifetime of pain. As the family struggles to make ends meet to cover Willow’s medical expenses, Charlotte thinks she has found an answer.

Handle With Care explores the knotty tangle of medical ethics and personal morality. Copies of the book are available for checkout at the library. For more information please call 419-352-5104.

 
Children's Place Listening Center @ WCDPL: The Snowy Day

Families, visit the Listening Center at WCDPL's Children´s Place during the month of February to listen to The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats. Make tracks in the snow--just like Peter!--to read along with this classic winter picture book. Teens, check out the Teen Space at WCDPL, and you could win a ticket to the Cinemark theater.

We’re gearing up for the movie version of Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, coming out in theaters this Friday, February 12, 2010. To win a movie ticket, all you have to do is match up Olympian legends. Entries will be accepted until February 26, 2010. See you at the Library! February is Black History Month!

WCDPL's Children's Place celebrates Black History Month this February with a display that features winners of the Coretta Scott King Book Award. For more than forty years, this award has  encouraged the artistic expression of the African American experience through literature and graphic arts. Multiple copies of the 2008 winner, We Are the Ship: The Story of Negro League Baseball by Kadir Nelson are available for check out.

We Are the Ship is also this month's selection for Novel Chit Chats, our fun and supportive monthly book discussion group for children ages nine and up with an adult partner. This month the group meets on Monday, February 22nd at 7pm.

For Immediate Release:  Wood County District Public Library Book Club Meets Monday February 8 at 7 pm

January 28, 2010 

The Monday Mysteries book club meets at 7 pm at the Wood County District Public Library (251 North Main St., Bowling Green, Ohio) on Monday, February 8. The group will discuss Edgar Award winning novelist Jan Burke’s Goodnight, Irene. Set in South California, this book introduces readers to ex-reporter Irene Kelly—described by Booklist as a winning “combination of Nancy Drew, Katherine Hepburn, Lois Lane, and Lauren Bacall”—who becomes entangled in the investigation of her best friend’s murder. Copies of Goodnight Irene are available for check out at the library. Everyone one is invited to the book group, even those who have not read this book. The meeting is free and open to all, light refreshments will be served.
