For Immediate Release: Read for Inspiration Book Group at WCDPL Wednesday, February 3
Christy by Catherine Marshall is the February selection for Wood County District Public Library’s Read for Inspiration book group. This heart-soaring bestseller set in 1912 recounts the story of Christy Huddleston, a young teacher who leaves home to teach school in the Great Smoky Mountains. The Wood County District Public Library's (251 North Main Street, Bowling Green) fiction book club, Coffee Talk, meets Wednesday, January 27 at 10:30 AM in the Library meeting room. Join us to discuss Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford. Set in the ethnic neighborhoods of Seattle during World War II and Japanese Internment camps of the era, this debut novel tells the heartwarming story of widower Henry Lee and his first love, Keiko Okabe. The 2010 American Library Association Caldecott and Newbery awards will be announced Monday, January 18. January 4, 2010 For Immediate Release: Monday Mysteries
Wood County District Public Library's (251 North Main Street, Bowling Green) popular book club, Monday Mysteries, holds its first meeting of 2010 on Monday, January 11 at 7:00 pm. The group will meet by the fireplace in the library atrium area to discuss Stalking Susan by Julie Kramer. The novel introduces television reporter Riley Spartz, who must unravel the connections in a series of unsolved murders of women named Susan before the killer can strike again. Stalking Susan was a finalist for the best first novel for the Agatha and Anthony Awards. The Children's Place of the Wood County Public Library is inviting youth, ages 9 and up with an adult partner, to join us in discussing the Newbery Honor book, Everything on a Waffle, at our next Novel Chit Chats on Monday, January 11th at 7 p.m. Multiple copies of this funny bittersweet novel are available to check out from the Children's Place.
Novel Chit Chats is a monthly book discussion group that is encouraging and fun for all. This month's discussion of Everything on a Waffle promises to be extra special as the Waffle House is offering free waffle coupons to every participant, and best of all, the best selling author, Polly Horvath, will join us in a conference call from her home in British Columbia to discuss her novel and what she is working on!
