November 13, 2009 For Immediate Release: FOOD-FOR-FINES DONATIONS ACCEPTED THIS HOLIDAY SEASON
"Food for Fines" donations are back this holiday season at the Wood County District Public Library. Donations of non-perishable food made at WCDPL(251 North Main Street, Bowling Green), the Walbridge Branch Library (108 North Main Street, Walbridge), and the WCDPL Bookmobile from November 30 through December 7 will be accepted as "payment" for overdue book fines. Fees for lost or damaged materials are excluded from this offer. In Bowling Green food donations will go to the BG Christian Food Pantry program. In Walbridge donations will go to the Main Street Food Pantry.

November 11, 2009 For Immediate Release: WCDPL November 13 Pen to Palette Toledo Museum of Art Tour Postponed
The Wood County District Public Library's Pen to Palette tour of the Toledo Art Museum originally scheduled for this Friday (November 13) has been postponed.
The tour has been rescheduled for Friday, December 11. Pre- registration is required in order to secure the special docent led tour and free round-trip transportation to TMA from the library. The Wood County District Public Library Foundation is throwing a Snow Ball Friday, November 6, from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the Wood County District Public Library (251 North Main Street, Bowling Green). Make a snow man, meet Snow White, learn about the latest in snowboarding gear, and more: everyone is invited to this free evening of stories, music, crafts, snacks, and fun for the whole family. Feel free to come dressed for the occasion as snowmen, skaters, hockey players, or in your favorite seasonal costume, and be sure to bring your cameras to capture the fun! |

October 26, 2009 For Immediate Release: Pen to Palette Book Club at WCDPL
Wood County District Public Library and the Toledo Museum of Art invite you to “experience books from a new perspective” through a new book discussion series, Pen to Palette @ WCDPL. The series pairs a traditional book discussion with a tour of TMA especially designed to engage readers with samples of art and cultural objects relevant to the books being read.
The series starts with a “Madness and Mayhem” tour of TMA this Friday, October 30. This tour complements the recent Community Reads of the works of Edgar Allan Poe. Free round-trip transportation to the museum will leave from WCDPL at 6:15 p.m. The tour begins at 7:00 p.m.
In addition to the October tour, two more Pen to Palette events are planned for the fall. A discussion of Loving Frank by Nancy Horan at WCDPL is set for Monday, November 9 at 7:00 pm, and will be followed by an “Art, Architecture and Behind the Scenes” tour of TMA on Friday, November 13 at 7:00 pm. The availability of free round trip transportation to the museum will be provided for this program is to be announced later.
The final fall Pen to Palette pairing will be a book discussion of The Glassblower of Murano by Marina Fiorato on Monday, December 7 at 7:00 pm at WCDPL, followed by a special tour of the TMA Glass Pavilion on Friday, December 11 at 7:00 pm. Transportation to the museum for this event is on your own.
