June 7, 2010, For Immediate Release: RIPTIDE READERS – READING BUDDIES AT THE LIBRARY
Children, ages 5 and up, looking for some fun reading practice and support are encouraged to join “Riptide Readers” in the Children’s Place of the Wood County District Public Library Wednesdays this summer from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Riptide Readers is part of the Summer Reading Program, “Make a Splash – READ!" Children may register at any session and are encouraged to come to as many as they can. The first session is Wednesday, June 9th.
Each week a chapter or two of the classic illustrated Great Lakes adventure story, Paddle to the Sea, will be read aloud as children follow along with multiple copies of the book. Then, children ages 5-8 will be matched up with a buddy ages 9 and up. Buddies then select books together and take turns reading aloud.
Everyone will also have an opportunity if they like to read Ben the therapy dog. Ben, an Old English Sheepdog, loves children and is a great listener. For more information, call the Children’s Place at 419-352-8253. |

June 7, 2010, For Immediate Release: Make a Splash…READ! Storytime at Simpson Garden Park
Families, join park and library staff in the Children’s Garden at Simpson Garden Park (1291 Conneaut Ave. BG), for a special “rainy day” storytime, on Thursday, June 10th at 6:30 pm.
Wood County District Public Library and Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department are partnering this summer for the Summer Reading Program, “Make a Splash…READ! This partnership is supported by a grant from the Bowling Green Community Foundation.

June 3. 2010 For Immediate Release
Jeff Yeager, the Ultimate Cheapskate, will be at the Wood County District Public Library (251 North Main Street, Bowling Green), Monday, June 14 at 7 pm. Yeager, a frequent contributor to the Today Show, grew up in Wood County, went to Otsego High School, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from BGSU.
WCDPL is the first stop on Yeager's national tour to promote his new book, The Cheapskate Next Door: The Surprising Secrets of Americans Living Happily Below Their Means. Yeager specializes in an off beat blend of original humor and practical advice of living a better life by spending and consuming less. Publisher's Weekly praises "Yeager and His 'Miser Advisers,'" noting that Yeager's new book provides "proof that living more frugally isn't about sacrifice--it's about making choices every day to live a better, happier, more thoughtful life with less."

April 23, 2010 For Immediate Release: WCDPL Children's Place Partners with Horizon Youth Theatre
The Children's Place of the Wood County District Public Library is partnering with Horizon Youth Theatre on their upcoming production of The Phantom Tollbooth. Children ages 9 and up with an adult partner will discuss the novel The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster, at “Novel Chit-Chats” on Monday, May 17 at 7:00 pm in the Children’s Place's Programming Room, and enjoy a staged reading by the Horizon Youth Theatre cast. Multiple copies of the novel are available now from the Children's Place desk.
You may also contact Children's Place staff at 419-352- 8253 for information about auditioning for the HYT production of The Phantom Tollbooth, to be performed June 11-13. Auditions will be held Monday, April 26, 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm, and Tuesday, April 27, from 4:30 pm -6:00 pm at the Wooster Street Center, 1124 East Wooster St. in Bowling Green. |

Families, enjoy African dancing, stories, and music about Anansi the Spider this Saturday, April 17th, at 2:00pm. The performance will be by students from Radiance, Healing and Motion Studio in Bowling Green and will be held at the Wood County District Public Library in the Children's Place.
